🗞 TL;DR - Don’t sleep on ad copy for Google Ads success. PPC Management Software Optmyzer recently analyzed over 1 million ads to see what copy drives performance. They analyzed over 22,000 accounts with a monthly spend of at least $1,500 and studied key metrics like cost per acquisition (CPA), click-through rates (CTR), and return on ad spend (ROAS).
💡 Insight - Is there a link between Ad Strength and performance? Maybe, maybe not. Optmyzer’s data found no clear correlation between Ad Strength and key metrics that mattered. Responsive Search Ads (RSAs) with an “average” Ad Strength had better CPAs, conversion rates, and ROAs than those with “excellent” Ad Strength. Instead of obsessing over Ad Strength, focus on creating ads that resonate with your audience.
How does pinning assets impact outcomes? It’s complicated. Ads with “some pinning” perform well on cost-based metrics like CPA and ROAS, but fully pinned ads show higher CTAs. Honestly though, the differences are minor. Strategic pinning can work, but trust Google’s AI to handle asset placement.
Which format performs better: Title Case or Sentence Case? Sentence Case outperformed Title Case in most key metrics. Sentence Case ads had higher ROAS and lower CPAs, particularly for RSAs and Demand Gen ads.
Does creative length influence metrics? Not really. Shorter headlines did outperform longer ones, but longer descriptions were slightly better than shorter ones. Quality trumps quantity in today’s Google Ads environment, so always focus on clear messaging over character count.
