🛠️ Things Worth Checking Out 🛠️

😎 SEE ME SPEAK! - I'm speaking at the #1 marketing agency conference in LA later this month. Use code "Marketingmax" at checkout to come see my talk here!

🗓️ SO FETCH - To celebrate Mean Girls Day (yesterday, October 3), Paramount Pictures released the entire hour and 47-minute film for free on TikTok cut up into 23 parts. Brilliant or ridiculous?

🛍️ SPLURGING OVER SAVING - Apparently, Americans are still spending on luxury goods like concerts, trips, and designer handbags even though people can’t afford a mortgage. YOLO, I guess.

Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - SEO leader Freddie Chatt published a post on LinkedIn outlining why businesses should stop churning out new content.

The key idea is that you should be reevaluating your old content first and making regular tweaks based on current trends and user behavior. Only then should you consider investing the time and money into creating new content.

💡 Insight - Here’s what Chatt says you should do before you write any new content:

  • Grab a list of the top 4-20 keywords your content has ranked for from Google Search Console in the last 3 months. Use these top-ranking keywords as your guidepost for all your updates.

  • Consider updating each blog page’s title or headline to align with keywords.

  • Update existing sections of each blog with new data, research, or relevant links.

  • Add new sections to add more depth to the content. Fill in any gaps you may have had before (or that have evolved in recent months).
