💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - Social media scheduler Buffer launched a new AI assistant feature to help users generate new content, repurpose existing posts, and develop endless new ideas. They’ve since analyzed 1.2 million posts across all social platforms to compare the median engagement rate between AI-assisted posts and non-AI-assisted posts, and the results… are pretty wild.

💡 Insight - The data from the experiment showed: AI-assisted posts consistently had higher median engagement rates across all platforms than non-AI-assisted posts. The median engagement rate for non-AI posts was 4.82%, while AI-assisted posts were at a rate of 5.87%. Pretty significant!

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that AI-assisted content will always perform better. It’s largely dependent on which platform you’re posting on, and that platform’s current algorithm. The platform with the most significant difference in performance was Threads, with non-AI posts at 5.56% engagement and AI-assisted posts at 11.11%. The platforms with the lowest difference were YouTube (3.7% for non-AI vs 3.9% for AI) and LinkedIn (6.22% for non-AI vs. 6.85% for AI).

Buffer even goes so far as to say that it might not be that AI is better than humans – it might be that AI is better at producing a higher volume of content more efficiently. Data even supports this as Buffer users who used the AI tools created posts more frequently than those who didn’t. This just reiterates the classic social media ethos: the more you post high-quality content, the more engagement you’ll usually see. AI helps take the pressure off and make this goal more easily achievable.
