🗞 TL;DR - Even if you know that AI can be useful, let’s face it: you probably aren’t using AI to the best of its potential. Buffer’s Head of Communications & Content Hailley Griffis shares how she went from being an occasional AI user to a power user in just months – and we’ve summarized the tips for you below.

💡 Insight - Use AI to elevate your thought processes. Think about all the times you wish you could talk something out with someone else or get advice on decision-making. Give your AI a lot of context including everything you’re thinking through and what you know about it so far. Then, let AI ask you questions that can help challenge your thinking and act as a coach to help you come to a conclusion.

Use AI to overcome friction. We’ve all had writers’ block or struggled to know where to start. Now, you can start by explaining what you’re working on to your AI chatbot and ask it to give you ideas to begin your work. Sometimes, you might find that just explaining the process to AI can help you come up with the answer yourself.

Use AI to brainstorm. This is probably my favorite way to use AI – to generate ideas rather than fully completed work. You can do this in a few different ways: ask AI to connect ideas, dive deeper into topics, provide new perspectives, reverse engineer an idea, or reframe an idea in multiple ways.

Use AI as an editor. Send your finalized work to AI and have it edit, critique, and polish up your piece. It can even suggest improvements or condense any areas that are too lengthy.
