Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - On Monday, X shared a bunch of new insights across a series of posts on the platform showcasing their recent usage, engagement, job posts, video views, and more… but according to Social Media Today, they’re not exactly the most accurate. So, how is X doing really?

💡 Insight - Let’s break down some of the contradictory metrics:

  • X says they have 250M daily active users (DAUs). They originally reported reaching 250 DAUs in Nov 2022.

  • X says they have 550M monthly active users (MAUs). In March and October 2023, they reported a milestone of 500M MAUs.

  • X claims users spend 30 mins a day on average on X, while X is also seeing over 8 billion DAU minutes on average so far in 2024. This math doesn’t add up!

  • Daily average user time spent on X has grown by +13% in 2024 and mobile time spent is up +17% vs the last six months… but in October, X reported that users were spending 33 mins per day in the app… refer back to that third point where users spend 30 mins/day on average…
