Today’s Growth Tip
Meta is continuing to test out generative AI features, taking its next AI idea to Instagram. The platform is developing a chat option that would allow users to ask the AI questions directly in the DMs. According to research, more conversations on Instagram are switching to DMs, giving them the opportunity to develop more messaging options that even brands can take advantage of.
Make it yours: Take a look at your real-time response strategy. Although our human teams can’t be available 24/7, chatbots can help keep your brand running even in the wee hours of your time zone. Setting up AI to answer questions about your products, company, or even just having a human-like conversation can keep your global followers engaged and feeling like they’re getting that 1-on-1 treatment.

Talk of the Town
Apple made headlines with its event at the Worldwide Developers Conference this week, announcing new product updates and features, especially for iOS. Updates you didn’t see announced: iOS extending its image cut-out feature, new drawing tools, auto-filling one-time verification codes for the mail app, and more.
Takeaway: Although Apple’s foray into AR is the biggest news to come out of the conference, there are still tons of new features on the horizon that will signal differences in the way people use their current devices. These new updates will continue to make it easier for creators to use their iPhones to make, edit, and post content.
Just like Twitter, Reddit is looking to impose a flat fee on its APIs. According to popular Reddit client Apollo, “Reddit was demanding an annual fee of around $20 million based on the number of API requests made by Apollo.” Third-party clients and bots—especially those moderating content safety—are going to be greatly impacted. In response, hundreds of subreddits with millions of users are going dark in protest.
Takeaway: Never scorn a Redditor. Some subreddits are even looking to shut down if things don’t change with the API pricing. This change could sour the taste of the popular platform not just for users, but for all third-party clients and bots, especially if other platforms take a page from Reddit.
