Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - The Pew Research Center just released a major report on teen usage of social media and technology in 2023. Despite negative headlines on social media’s impact on younger users, teens are still using these platforms at high rates.

💡 Insight - Even if you’re not targeting teen users, it’s essential to understand how different generations are utilizing social media and technology. Here are some of our top findings from the report:

  • YouTube is still king. It was the most widely used platform in the report, with roughly 9 in 10 teens using it.

  • TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram are also still popular, but even more so amongst younger teens ages 13-17.

  • Teens are less likely to be using Facebook and Twitter than they were a decade ago.

  • Nearly 1 in 5 teens say they’re “almost constantly” on YouTube or TikTok, with about half of teens using Snapchat and Instagram daily.
