🚀 Today’s Deep Dive 🚀

📰 TL;DR - What lengths would you go to to differentiate your company from the competition?

If you’re SeaWorld, you do absolutely anything that Disney or Universal would never do.

In an attempt to salvage dropping attendance during peak summertime, the theme park revised its weather raincheck program to allow guests to come back any day in the next 12 months if they have tickets on a day when temps reach a heat index of 100ºF.

💡 Insight - Will this win over guests to SeaWorld vs the other guys? Maybe. Maybe not. The update only affects guests who already bought tickets for the theme park. But the change (and its fanfare) might sway people who want to keep plans flexible and are planning a Florida vacation in August (read: v hot).

But the change is a small tweak that doesn’t take much on SeaWorld’s part and could truly impact performance. Sometimes it doesn’t take a massive action to move the needle.

The real key is setting up these differentiating levers before it’s a dire time. Check out what your competitors are offering. Consider what they would never offer. Could that be something you can feasibly offer?
