💡 Today’s Insight: About Google AI Overviews’ latest volatility
🚨 Warning: Before You Send Another Cold Email!
Maybe try something a little less... cold? Cold email is like asking the cutie at the end of the bar to go on a date with you before saying anything else. A better strategy? Send them a drink first. Tell them a joke or an interesting fact. That's what content from your personal brand does to your future clients/customers! It warms them up so they show up to calls ready to buy!

💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Visibility of AI overviews in Google search results increased to 12% in July, only to fall back to 7% by the end of the month, according to enterprise SEO platform BrightEdge. So, why should you care? Well, because it could affect how your content shows up in search results and how successful your SEO efforts are. Search Engine Land summed up BrightEdge’s stats to help you understand the impact on your industry and work.
💡 Insight - Here are a few of those key stats from BrightEdge and how you can take action on them:
In July, AI Overviews were less likely to appear for certain searches and queries including general products (i.e. “shoes,” “furniture”), brand-specific ones (i.e. Google, Apple), basic how-tos (i.e. “how to do,” “how to find”), and healthcare-related keywords (however, healthcare still has the highest number of AI overviews at 61% of results). If your product or service is in one of these categories, you may benefit from crafting content that doesn’t service these terms, as it may signal that Google is downgrading these results in general.
Salary-related queries (i.e. “nurse salary” or “human resources manager salary”) saw a significant increase in AI Overviews – from 7% to 85% in July. Other areas that showed increases: complex technical keywords, long-tail keywords, and specific product features. Lean into niche, highly-specific pieces of content and copy! The more specific and in-the-weeds, the more Google’s AI Overviews may pick your content up.
The most stable area for AI Overviews to pull from was in search positions 11-30. Citations of top 10 results decreased (but also went through significant spikes). So, if your content isn’t the highest ranking (or can’t overcome certain ranking positions), this is actually great news. AI Overviews may be your ticket to the top.
