💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - According to a new study, 84% of the video content released by brands on TikTok fails to generate strong positive emotions, capture attention, or enhance brand recall. Search Engine Journal broke down more stats from the study and what marketers can do with this information to change course.
💡 Insight - In the study’s findings, 60% of branded TikTok videos were found to be “simply forgettable,” with below-average positive emotional responses and below-average brand recall, while ranking above the global average for causing confusion and boredom.
Even worse, 24% of branded TikTok videos triggered strong extreme, negative emotions like anxiety, fear, discomfort, and disgust. Brands should assess their content and see how it falls within these findings. Does your content aim to generate intense positive emotions? Or could it be misconstrued to be something negative (i.e. boring)?
All of these emotions can also be affected by video SEO. If you’re not working on video SEO – aka how your videos show up in search queries – then you’re missing a major step. Figure out why some content may generate negative emotions while others generate positive ones. Work with your SEO teams to understand how to optimize content on the backend to maximize your reach.
