🗞 TL;DR - New research in Teen Vogue and Fast Company found that high school TikTok influencers are “increasingly choosing [colleges] based on how they’ll present on social media content.” So, if you want to attract those younger consumers, you might want to focus on having a visually appealing experience.
💡 Insight - According to 2023 Pew Research data, TikTok is the second most-used app among those aged 13-17 with YouTube taking the top spot. One in five teens say they’re on TikTok “almost constantly.”
With more of this generation also aspiring to make a career as a creator, it’s no surprise that these younger influencers gravitate toward colleges and formative experiences that look good in their content. Many of these platforms serve as unofficial guides to insider tips on the college and early adulthood experience – which is where brands have an opportunity to fit in.
And even if your brand doesn’t have a physical space, you can still get in on the action. Brands like Keurig and Command have partnered with TikTokers to create sponsored posts featuring the products being included in “day in the life” or “morning routine” videos. The key is to identify what content these creators are already crafting and see how your brand can seamlessly work its way into the conversation.
