💡 Today’s Insight: Analyzing 2025 social media marketing predictions
💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - It’s that time of year. Every expert you know (and even the ones you don’t) will be making their industry predictions for the next year – and we’re here to analyze and interpret them. Social Media Today has released their top predictions for social media marketing in 2025… and historically, they’re pretty spot-on.
💡 Insight - Here are Social Media Today’s top predictions by app:
Meta is going to lean heavily into AI (and it already has) and AR experiences (also already in the works). Which also means, fighting against fake AI-generated content and crafting brand experiences geared at AR/VR wearables. Facebook-wise, it’s expected to lean into more entertainment-based content to attract younger users as well as leaning heavily into video (think TikTok-like experiences).
Instagram has become “the middleman of social media platforms” and is expected to lean into some of these standout Meta features – like AI and AR integrations. Threads… is still a very new platform, but one would expect it to try and strengthen its algorithm’s deficiency in real-time trend prioritization if it stands any chance of competing against X.
On two sides of the audience spectrum are Snapchat and LinkedIn. SMT expects Snapchat’s new ad approach to have pushback and LinkedIn’s AI tools to maybe go a little too far.
Maybe the most interesting (and hard-to-know) prediction is what will happen to TikTok if the U.S. does move forward with its ban in February. The app is continuing to push its Shopping component despite users continuing to avoid the Shopping component, though usage is showing slow signs of adoption.
And then there’s X which, according to SMT, won’t be in operation much longer if it can’t start making money soon. The Payments feature won’t be coming to X in 2024, maybe by the end of 2025. Only 0.26% of its user base is using its Premium subscription with access to its AI chatbot. Maybe video is the thing to look to?
