🎧 TIKTOK - The longer Universal Music restricts its music from TikTok, the more value there is in TikTok Sounds. The original user-generated audio might be an area of opportunity.

✂️ VIDEO - MrBeast, a major source of video inspiration, is telling creators to stop using his quick-cut editing style. He’s found that longer videos with a focus on storytelling are performing better. Always be testing.

🤖 TAX AI - H&R Block and TurboTax have new AI assistants this year that seem to be… not doing well. In a recent test, TurboTax’s bot offered irrelevant advice while H&R Block’s bot gave incorrect information. Yikes.

📰 TL;DR - SEO isn’t just for web traffic. Instagram SEO, and any social SEO really, focuses on tailoring your content so that it appears in as many places as possible across the platform. Essentially, it’s improving your discoverability by using the right combination of text, profile optimization, and content strategy.

💡 Insight - Use descriptive captions with relevant keywords. Users can search IG’s Explore page with keywords now, which means it’s important to think of your captions just like you’d think of strategic blog or ad copy.

Add relevant keywords to your profile name and bio. If you’re hoping to rank for a specific keyword, you should ensure your platform presence is easily searchable.

Include up to 30 relevant hashtags. Hashtags are used to categorize and discover new content, so using the right ones can help your target audience find you.

Add descriptive alt text to your posts. You should be doing this for accessibility purposes anyway. But this also allows you to provide more descriptive text that can improve discoverability (not at the expense of accessibility though).

Be consistent with your niche audience. The algorithm will learn more about you the more you post, so staying consistent with your focus helps IG serve your content to the relevant audience.
