Today’s Growth Tip
New research from Pinterest and Morning Consult shows that positive environments are more beneficial for brand messaging (wildly enough, Pinterest is one of those positive, beneficial spaces).
According to the research, “When they’re in a positive space, 56% of American adults agree they’re more likely to remember brands online, 59% feel positive about brands online, 56% trust brands they see in positive spaces, and 54% ultimately make a purchase from a brand.
Make it yours: Pivot your strategy towards more obviously positive spaces online. Is that your local Nextdoor forum? Working with bloggers or UGC creators? Or maybe it’s even creating content for Pinterest! Social media is inherently polarizing and confrontational, but your presence on there doesn’t have to be. Go where people are positive & reap the brand benefits!

Talk of the Town
While adults are worrying about the AI chatbot’s control over kids, Snapchat users (mostly teens) are gaslighting and tormenting the AI tool. Many users voiced their disinterest in the feature when Snap debuted it in beta, so now they’re using it against the company. Snap’s started promoting how the AI can now receive and send images to “keep the conversation going” but one can only guess what that could lead to…
Takeaway: Initially, it was exciting to see that a popular social network was truly embracing the power of AI. But this is where being literate in internet culture can be hugely helpful: just because you make it for one purpose doesn’t mean that’s the way the internet will use it.
According to a new Accenture report:
45% of US and UK advertisers have been using the same approach to advertising for the last 5 years
71% of that group doesn’t plan on changing their strategy in the next year (even in the face of a cookie-less world)
32% will continue to use outdated advertising playbooks
More than 80% are aware of major privacy changes, but only 8% actually understand what they mean
1 in 3 advertisers are worried about their job security if they try a new channel or strategy that doesn’t deliver
Takeaway: Big yikes. This is your sign to talk to your ad teams about what they’re doing to prepare for a world without cookies and empower them to take on more diversified ad streams. Follow Accenture’s guidance in this article and improve processes that are linked back to sales. And don’t be one of the 71%!
