Marketing’s top news, tips, & tools of the day

🚀
Today’s Growth Tip

  • TikTok is looking to make it easier for video creators with its addition of a scripting AI tool. According to TikTok:

    • You can add your industry vertical, product name, description, and any relevant keywords.

    • The system will then churn out a selection of sample video scripts, each including a hook, scene, and a call to action, with both audio and visual cues to include.

  • Make it yours: Although AI tools aren’t the catchall answer to copywriting and idea-generating, try using the tool to spark ideas in your team. Use the AI scripting tool as part of your brainstorming process. It may help you expand upon an idea you were stuck on or streamline your scripting process.

Talk of the Town

  • The Reddit protests started with a blackout. As subreddits went dark in protest of the API pricing structures, the website experienced crashes on Monday morning. 7,000 subreddits are currently taking part in the protests in hopes that Reddit will reconsider in the wake of apps like Apollo announcing their shut down due to the overwhelming cost of the API changes.

  • Takeaway: Although the protests are only supposed to last for 48 hours, Reddit could continue to see a backlash since they are standing firm in their new API pricing. It’s important to keep an eye on Reddit and how users are responding, especially for any brands with advertising on the platform.

  • News of the Vanderpump Rules cheating scandal went beyond more than just viewers of the popular reality show. The zeitgeist has been buzzing for months and BIC took advantage of the chatter by casting Ariana Madix in their latest campaign for ridding of the “clogs” in your life. The campaign video amassed millions of views across social platforms and was aired during the three Vanderpump reunion episodes.

  • Takeaway: BIC saw an opportunity to hop on the trend, and they did it in a smart and effective way. In a saturated market of trends and influencers, it’s important to note campaigns that are able to cut through the noise. BIC was not only timely, but they used their creativity (and budget) wisely with one great idea.
