💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - We’ve all been there: spending hours upon hours creating the perfect ad creative. But, according to Facebook ad consultant Barry Hott, you might want to try creating ugly ads. He believes that ugly ads, ones that people won’t skip over, stand out in today’s oversaturated market.
💡 Insight - According to Hott, the important question to ask is: what will make someone feel uncomfortable? You should aim to create an ad that people won’t skip and will immediately need to learn more about.
Marketers tend to want to make prettier stuff, even if it leads to less attention on the creative. More well-polished creative can often come off as less authentic, less relatable, and less relevant – all things you should be aiming to evoke as a marketer.
Also, don’t confuse ugly ads with less put-together ads. Ugliness can be intentional and still thorough with the messaging you’re trying to put forward. The point is to be eye-grabbing and different, not necessarily bad.
