💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - The SEO landscape is changing and AI search is becoming more commonplace. ChatGPT’s new search functionality poses a serious challenge to Google, but how it ranks content is still being understood. Search Engine Land outlines their 4 key expert observations about what ChatGPT search means for SEO and how it compares to Google.
💡 Insight - Here’s how ChatGPT search compares to Google:
ChatGPT search results are different from both Google and Bing. ChatGPT search doesn’t just pull results from one search engine, which means the overall ranking doesn’t align. Though it’s results appear most closely related to Bing (because it uses Bing’s search index when sourcing trusted media).
ChatGPT search favors long-form content over brand product pages. This looks a lot like list-style, long-form articles that are on high authority review or content sites. ChatGPT search doesn’t seem to trust brand sites, which means collaborating with trusted outlets is extra important.
For local SEO, ChatGPT favors top businesses by reviews and Google Maps location. To rank well, you’ll need many authentic, positive Google reviews.
ChatGPT search doesn’t display ads, so everything is from organic content. This benefits SEO experts and businesses who don’t have massive budgets, but it also means you’ve gotta focus on maximizing exposure and offering real solutions.
