Breaking News

💡 Insight - Businesses can now sign up for the program by clicking on the dedicated section in your options menu on desktop. The subscription, which grants a verified gold tick on your business’s profile, starts at $1k/mo and seemingly requires no actual verification to sign up. In addition to the gold tick and affiliates, brands in the program also get priority support from Twitter staff and in reporting impersonation in the app. Sounds like a steep price for such small benefits, but for some brands, paying for the service might make a lot of sense.

💡 Insight - It’s about time Amazon entered the AI game, and they’re doing it with a cloud-based, configurable alternative to ChatGPT aimed at businesses and developers. AWS customers can use Bedrock to write, build chatbots, summarize text, classify images, and more based on text prompts. Bedrock is currently in beta with select businesses and doesn’t have public pricing yet, but AWS customers can apply for the waitlist to get access. Could be a real game-changer for businesses on AWS – especially those with a strong developer team willing to innovate and push boundaries.

💡 Insight - Looking to update your SEO strategy based on actual factors Google’s claimed determine website ranking? Red Website Design and Social Media Today shared this helpful infographic on confirmed Google ranking factors you need to know. Here’s the top level factors that make the list:

  • Backlinks

  • Relevance

  • Freshness

  • HTTPS

  • Mobile-friendliness

  • Page speed

  • Core Web Vitals

  • Intrusive interstitials

💡 Insight - RSAs are a type of Google Ads format that allows advertisers to create multiple headlines and descriptions for a single ad, then letting Google use machine learning to test different combinations to determine which ones perform best. RSAs are shown to drive 4x the impressions of expanded text ads – but many brands struggle to write so many headlines and descriptions for each ad group. As a solution, Google Ads expert Frederick Vallaeys created a script to run on OpenAI using GPT to suggest headline and description assets.

If you’re constantly working to optimize Google Ads and getting writers block, you absolutely need to try out this hack.

💡 Insight - If you were on Twitter on Sunday night and are between the ages of 18-40, your feed was probably covered in tweets about Netflix’s wildly unsuccessful livestream attempt. Netflix tried to go into crisis comms mode by initially sharing updates about the delay due to technical issues, but was quickly overshadowed by memes, competitors throwing subtle shade, and even government officials joining in the jokes. They also lost out to competitor streaming service HBO Max as viewers abandoned Netflix for the new Succession episode launch.

This is just a really classic case of the challenges of live events and crisis comms. If you were following the situation, how do you think Netflix handled it?

💡 Insight - A fast food restaurant leaning into a popular weed culture holiday just makes too much sense. The milkshake is a return from their campaign last year and is a nod to stoner-comedy classic film Pineapple Express, topped with popcorn chicken, onion rings, tiny tacos, and more (we’re not kidding). The first 100 people at each food truck will get the chance at a free milkshake and, to help consumers find the trucks, Jack in the Box created custom landing pages on WeedMaps, an app to help users find local dispensaries. Celebrate responsibly!
