💡 Today’s Insight: Are you staying compliant on social media?
🤩 Work With Me & Phil
It's me, MarketingMax here! Last week, I hosted an epic event for 100 agency owners, consultants, and service-based businesses in NYC with my friend Phil Rivers. After the event, one guy said he paid $15,000 for a mastermind group but got more from our 5 sessions than he did in that $15,000 mastermind. I wasn't surprised though. You know why?
Because this wasn't a typical "speaking event" where attendees get lectured at the whole time. Phil and I workshopped 4 low-risk and easy-to-implement client acquisition strategies we have personally used to generate:
thousands of leads
millions in service revenue
and $12,400,000 in agency exits (both of us selling our agencies)
Phil and I are the case studies that prove they work. And these 5 low-risk and easy-to-implement strategies have helped our clients get 5 new clients every month, if not more.
But now, you don't need to fly to NYC to learn these strategies or get our help to install them into your business. Starting 9/18, we are teaching you these strategies in a 4-week live course. Learn what's included and:
💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Compliance gets a bad rep for being boring, but it’s actually incredibly important to your brand’s longevity. A lack of compliance on social media can have serious consequences, including fines, lawsuits, loss of social media privileges, and damage to brand reputation. It’s also not that hard to maintain, and Sprout Social has a 101 guide on how to stay compliant on social media.
💡 Insight - Here’s what you absolutely have to be doing if you want to stay compliant on social media:
Understand the laws and regulations relevant to your industry. If you’re in a regulated industry (govt, process industries, etc.), then you likely have in-house compliance experts. Collaborate with these teams and make sure they understand your content processes.
Limit access to social media accounts. Sharing passwords and access creates unnecessary risk. Make sure to store sensitive information like this in a management platform or use a content management system to provide limited access.
Build a social media compliance monitoring strategy. Regulatory details are changing all the time. Make sure to have regular checks in place to monitor the changing landscape and have a plan ready whenever details change.
Archive everything. It’s a good practice for everyone, but in regulated industries, all communications on social media need to be archived. This includes posts, ads, and user engagement.
Create a pre-approved content library. This allows everyone (including employees outside of your team!) to share content without introducing compliance risk.
Always always ALWAYS disclose sponsored content. Make sure if you’re partnering with influencers that an #ad disclosure is right up front, and use the paid partnership labels whenever possible.
Invest in regular training and social media policies. These don’t have to be overly complicated, but they can help make sure everyone understands the latest developments and knows how to act on social media.
