💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - It’s always hard to predict whether a new tool is worth your time, energy, or budget. TikTok just launched its Search Ads Campaigns to compete with Google Search Ads. The Campaigns are a keyword-based solution that allows brands to appear in the platform’s search results. Whether or not your brand jumps on the new option is up to you, but we’ve summarized some of the TikTok Search takeaways to help you decide if it’s worth the test.
💡 Insight - TikTok’s search capabilities have been competing with Google for a long time. For the last few years, it’s been lauded as the new search engine for younger users. Data shows that 57% of TikTok users employ the app’s search function, and 23% of users start searching within the first 30 seconds of opening the app. This means that there may be promise with this new ad option, as search behavior is becoming more ingrained in users’ experience on the platform.
It’s also not a wild concept to take on Google Search Ads, as Instagram and YouTube have rolled out similar features. TikTok’s advertising that its focus on high-intent searches sets it apart, reminding buyers that the platform has an upper edge as a content discovery engine. According to company data, 9 out of 10 users take action after searching on TikTok. So, while it may be a new platform, it’s not entirely unfounded as TikTok has a reputation for high-converting search.
If you’re still on the fence, maybe take a look at the top searched-for topics on TikTok. Those include: gift ideas, hair and makeup, wellbeing and fitness, recipes and meal ideas, fashion brands, interior design, video games, and parenting advice in the top 10 spots. So, if your brand falls within one of those areas of focus, it might be worth considering trying out the new offering.
