💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - Creators are going viral on social media despite never showing their faces. One account has amassed an audience of more than 1.9M followers and 2.2M on YouTube in just over a year, showing that faceless accounts and influencers are a fast-rising category of the creator economy. It’s a great content opportunity for brands, who don’t always have a social spokesperson to become the face of the account.

💡 Insight - As James Nord, founder and CEO of Fohr, puts it, “You can only look at so many strangers a day. There’s something refreshing about seeing videos that aren’t focused on a face. Faceless videos are less aggressive; there’s a simplicity to them that’s a nice break from other videos on the platform.”

But just because they’re more simple than some other face-filled videos doesn’t mean they’re not a lot of work. You’ve still gotta plan each angle, think through each movement you need to do to showcase your product, and cut the video in a way that tells the full story of your brand.

Faceless creators often create videos by using a neck holder for their phone, which allows footage to be shot outward as if from their POV. This is an area that may also be enhanced by wearable recording devices, like Meta’s new Ray-Ban smart glasses that record high-quality video. While the most common faceless content categories are currently home organization, product reviews, and lifestyle content, the sky’s the limit if you can create it.
