🗞 TL;DR - LinkedIn just dropped some new tips on how to maximize the effectiveness of your ads on the platform based on internal research on the best-performing LinkedIn campaigns over the past year. We’ve pulled out the key takeaways for you below!

💡 Insight - Niche communities uniting like-minded members around specialized interests are a big draw of the social platform. For example, according to LinkedIn, nearly 50% of members follow sports while 38% are fashion fans or auto enthusiasts. Consider tapping into unique, intersecting interests to create content that connects across niches.

Eliciting an emotional response is key to maximizing engagement and LinkedIn says that some of the key emotions that work with audiences best include: passion, celebration, inspiration, FOMO, humor, reliability, and empowerment.

LinkedIn stresses that marketers should design ads with “divided attention” in mind, meaning you’ll need to capture users’ attention while they’re scrolling. The data shows that vertical-aligned ads perform best with an 11% higher CTR and 31% higher engagement rate than 1:1 square formats or horizontal formats. A few other hacks LinkedIn recommends to grab attention: pleasing aesthetics, strong contrasts, dynamic movement, and counterintuitive statistics.
