✨ Today’s Insight ✨
📰 TL;DR - Social media platforms have been trying really hard in recent years to capitalize on the success of product sharing and hype. “TikTok Made Me Buy This” turned rapidly into TikTok Shop and Meta’s been trying to make tools like IG Shopping work for awhile now. New research from creator-management platform Grin helps answer the question: are these platform solutions even working?
💡 Insight - Here are some takeaways from the research:
Over two-thirds (68%) of Americans have bought products directly on social-media apps
26% of Americans buy products in-app more than once a week
76% of people said they had at least considered purchasing digital products (i.e. an app, subscription, or software) because of a social-media recommendation
Over half of consumers said they would use social media to research holiday gifts this year, while 20% said they would buy gifts directly on social media
TikTok is the top app Gen Z prefers to make in-app purchases on, while Facebook is the top place for Millennials, Gen Xers, and Boomers
