✨ Today’s Insight ✨
📰 TL;DR - Everyone knows about “share of market” or “share of voice,” but this new metric is one to watch. Share of Model refers to how each large language model (LLM) or generative AI chatbot perceives your brand, compares it to other competitors, and how it suggests your products to customers.
💡 Insight - Here are the three things you can do to optimize your SoM:
Understand how each LLM works and perceives your brand. Consider the big four: Gemini, Copilot, GPT4, and Llama. Review your creative assets with the LLM. Try to see every piece of content from its perspective. Analyze how its historical training sets impact its perception of your assets.
When in doubt, ask the LLM outright. The benefit of these chatbots is that you can work with them differently than you would if you were conducting a focus group or a customer interview. Take the answers with a grain of salt, and consider the answers it gives you alongside the behavior its shown you.
Always keep optimizing and learning. The downside to these chatbots is that they never stop evolving. Just when you think you’ve mastered your share of model, the parameters will change. Include these models regularly in your audience analysis and planning.
