Marketing’s top news, tips, & tools of the day

⚡️
Talk of the Town

  • Turns out, you could apparently bypass paywalled websites and articles using ChatGPT’s new Browse with Bing internet search feature. Users simply had to ask for a URL’s full text to potentially get the paywalled article. Oops. So, despite our last reporting that you could surf the web with ChatGPT, you can’t just yet… until they solve this weirdly unfortunate workaround.

  • Takeaway: Remember that AI is still pretty new! There’s going to be buggy features, everything isn’t perfect, things will get delayed. But that’s the fun of it all right? Building the plane as we’re flying it. Hopefully this feature doesn’t get derailed too soon because it’s a powerful one when it’s working.

  • The app couldn’t come at a better time as Twitter users are frustrated with changes, errors, and paywalled features. The initial hours seem positive for Zuckerberg’s fight against Musk, but the app will have to compete with other new competitors like Spill, Bluesky, and Post. Users can get access by downloading the Threads app and signing in via their Instagram account. Profile details, including your following list, can be imported directly from Instagram.

  • Takeaway: Since there’s no waitlist or invite code needed to join (unlike the other competitors), everyone should be jumping on Threads ASAP. If the first few hours of the app are any indication, the conversations are at their hottest right now. Don’t miss out! (Unless you’re in the EU, in which case you’ll have to wait for the app to be approved by the regulatory board.)

🎨 B2B CEOs, are you doing it the OLD WAY or the NEW WAY?

Building a personal brand is crucial in the B2B world. How are you doing it?

Old Way: Pay an outrageous amount of money to a PR company to get you featured in Forbes, TechCrunch, and FastCompany.

Today’s Growth Tip

  • Before jumping too deep into Threads, make sure to check out an overview of the app (like in the article linked above) and browse around the app to start getting to know it. Brands are slowly embracing the app, but expect to spend some time navigating the app over the coming week before knowing what’s truly the best strategy.

  • Make It Yours: Get your brand on Threads and start posting. There’s no better or faster way to learn than by doing. Plus this is a unique situation where brands are able to start fresh on a new social platform while retaining their success from a previous platform (Instagram). Start posting today, then build your strategy based on what’s resonating. It’s especially important in these early days with a lack of clear directions or robust analytics. Just start.
