💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - Having trouble with your LinkedIn ads? Not getting the results you expect? Search Engine Land identified five of the most common LinkedIn Ads mistakes and how to fix them.

💡 Insight - Here are the five most common mistakes people make with LinkedIn Ads:

  1. Using age as targeting criteria - LinkedIn actually doesn’t know how old you are. Really, it never asks for users’ age or birth year, even when creating a new account. So, age in targeting is just an educated guess based on factors like graduation year. Instead, use years of experience which is a much better indicator of decision-making power in a company.

  2. Enabling LinkedIn audience expansion without adjustments - LinkedIn has unmatched targeting capabilities, so why allow the platform to expand your audience to anyone who only meets one of your criteria? Instead, try predictive audiences which leverages high-quality data.

  3. Turning on the LinkedIn Audience Network without optimization - LAN makes it too easy for buyers to check boxes without knowing what they’re signing up for. Instead, you should be applying a block list and being hypercritical about who you’re including.

  4. Failing to set up website actions - Not adding the LinkedIn Insight Tag to your website limits what you can track. Instead, ask your developer for a quick favor and reap the benefits.

  5. Relying on only one ad format - Please stop uploading random PDFs from your website as document ads and gating them up front. Instead, test out your gating strategy, gain trust of users, and create more personal, thought-leader-led ads.

⚡️ Today’s Headlines ⚡️

🎞️ Instagram may be exploring a separate Reels app. The app would be more of a direct replica of TikTok, opening to a full-screen, scrolling display of short-form videos. Longer Reels would also play a key consideration in the new app.
