💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, isn’t just for Google anymore. Social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram now function as search engines, using keywords to provide users with relevant content. This means that knowing a few SEO best practices is key if you don’t want your content getting lost in the shuffle.

💡 Insight - Here’s what you need to know about incorporating SEO into your social media strategy:

  1. Keywords are the new hashtags. Research trending keywords by searching your topic to see what other creators are using. Then, put any relevant keywords in your captions, video titles, and on-screen text. It also helps to pay attention to suggested search terms on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

  2. Use long-tail keywords when necessary. The more specific you can get with your search options, the better. Something like “budget-friendly travel tips for Europe” will likely perform better than “travel tips.”

  3. Research different platforms. SEO is not a one-size-fits-all across socials. TikTok prioritizes captions and on-screen text, while YouTube relies on video titles, descriptions, and tags. Instagram’s algorithm focuses on keywords in captions, bios, and alt text.

  4. Take advantage of your profile. You can also boost your discoverability by adding keywords to your bio, handles, or Instagram name.

  5. Don’t keyword stuff. While it might make sense to jam a bunch of keywords into your posts, platforms are getting smarter and will just flag it as spam. Instead, focus on organically integrating them and avoid misleading keywords that don’t align with your content.
