🚀 Today’s Deep Dive 🚀

📰 TL;DR - Far too often, business leaders assume if consumers are interested in their business, they trust them. But that’s not always true. Just take the boom of driverless cars in San Francisco. With companies like Cruise and Waymo offering driverless rideshares, it’s an exciting time to be at the cusp of such new technology.

But if you’ve been on the internet at any point in the past month, you’ve probably seen your fair share of driverless rideshare nightmares. From blocking fire trucks at active scenes to blocking traffic and creating major chaos on roads… I imagine it’s not a great time to be in their PR department.

💡 Insight - Don’t mistake interest for trust. You can have a really cool, new, trendy product but if it fails half the time, gives people a headache, and goes viral for all the wrong reasons… you won’t be getting that brand loyalty we all aspire to.

Start slow if you need to and don’t rush into the game too early. Sure, being first to market is a major win. But not if it comes at the cost of a thoroughly tested, working product. If you promise to deliver a certain product, deliver it.

Consumers feel tricked and annoyed when something doesn’t work, even if it’s just a fluke. Gain their trust by working hard to avoid those tricks and headaches. It’s not always about not making mistakes (those will happen), it’s about making people feel heard and supported.
