Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - In an incredibly confusing move, X/Twitter recently removed the headlines from link previews. This makes it incredibly hard to decipher images from links and to get deeper information on a link before clicking on it.

The confusion has affected brands across industries from publishing to eComm… but the Press Gazette came up with a few ideas of how to pivot your content in a post-headline world. Because if the platforms won’t provide helpful features, we’ve gotta take it into our own hands…

💡 Insight - Here are some of the top tricks journalists are using to adapt to the loss of headlines:

  • Attach the featured image(s) directly to the post, type the headline & link to the story/page. It limits your characters for other content in the post, but it’s the most straightforward solution.

  • Paste the link in twice. Once so you see the normal link format and a second time so it pops up in the post text.

  • Use a screenshot of the headline on the website as the featured image for your post. This provides more information & a customized look.

  • Add the headline to the preview image. Requires more background effort of image editing & content personalization, but it gives you the most customized look.
