💡 Insight - This should be concerning to anyone investing in Twitter Ads as it will be harder to get in front of Twitter power users. Part of the magic of Twitter ads is that it lets you reach content creators and influential business professionals who don’t spend time on LinkedIn or Instagram as much. Seems like reaching them just keeps getting harder and harder.

But we gotta give him credit, Elon is living up to his promise from November of delivering an ad lite version to paying Twitter users.

💡 Insight - ByteDance’s $25b in profit for 2022 is pretty wild considering the report that TikTok had more than a billion dollars in operational losses for 2022. For comparison, Meta reported about $33b in profit for 2022 so just imagine how much revenue ByteDance’s other apps and properties are generating.

Why is ByteDance ok losing so much money on Tik Tok? It could be that they know that thy have to burn $$$ for years like Facebook did before they can actually turn a profit. Or that there is an ulterior motive? regardless, we’ll keep you posted on all things Tik Tok as it remains a fundamental marketing channel for many brands in 2023.

💡 Insight - We are huge fans of Social Media Today’s infographics and this one did not disappoint. We love the “Burger King” method of finding what time creators or competitive brands in your niche are posting and posting at the same time. We also love the concept of going back and liking and responding to comments on your posts until you post again. These 4 social growth hacks might not completely change your game but should help you move the needle!

💡 Insight - Let’s be clear, we are not promoting NFTs or saying you should launch an NFT at all! But there are some amazing things in this case study that every marketer and Founder looking to grow a community can implement. Like the fact she spent more than 3,000 hours in Twitter Spaces (live audio chat rooms) over the course of a year getting ingrained into the NFT community on Twitter before launching anything. As she got more and more ingrained, she was asked to perform at mint parties, launch events, and other industry events.

💡 Insight - It’s reported that more than 35 million Americans play Pickleball and Walmart+ wants in on that craze. Their new partnership with Break The Love (a racket sports booking platform) is really a marketing move to get more regular customers to subscribe to their Walmart+ offering.

It’s no different than Amazon Prime getting into film & tv content to give their prime subscribers another reason to stick around paying $120+ a year. What not-so-obvious things can you add to your subscription or regular product that would keep customers coming back and help keep churn low?

💡 Insight - The rumor that Bud Light’s parent company fired the entire marketing team in charge of this campaign is false. The brand is standing by its campaign fully. If you have ever looked for an example of a brand standing up and doing the right thing at the risk of alienating a large group of its target audience, this is it.
