Currently, if creators want to showcase a product within a live stream, they have to upload the product info before going live. The new process will help creators maximize interest – with products being mysteries before it gets revealed – and excitement for the stream. While live shopping is slow to build in the U.S., it’s been huge in China, bringing in almost $400 billion in 2022.

💡 Insight - Stronger even than Netflix’s standard ad-free plan in the U.S., executives revealed in their Q1 earnings call. The streaming service only added 1.7M new subscribers in Q1 for a global total of 232.5M users – a promising sign with Netflix focused more on profitability over subscriber growth. As part of the effort, they’re adding more perks to the cheaper ad-supported version to attract more users. Will be a fascinating study in diversifying revenue streams for streaming companies.
