Today's news, tips, & tools you need to know
1 - Twitter Just Stole Tik Tok's #1 Asset
📰 TL;DR - If you have opened Twitter on desktop or the latest version of their mobile app in the last few days you likely noticed there is a new defacto feed / tab called "For you" that you can't move or replace as the first option. This is blatantly a copy of Tik Tok's #1 asset, it's For you page... or #fyp as Tik Tok creators refer to it by!
💡 Insight - We have been saying for a while now that Tik Tok's best asset is its biggest downfall, the "For you" feed! It's awesome because it leads to crazy virality and growth for users on the platform but decreases the value of a follower because your followers consume less of your content (because most followers leave the #fyp on always).
For now, we think Twitter actually did it perfectly, giving users the option to flip back and forth between the "For you" page and the "Following" tab. Twitter users have a higher affinity to the accounts they follow than Tik Tok users so we think there is no better time to get on the Twitter content creation bang wagon!
*2 - Stop Delaying Your Company's Growth Because Of A Lack Of Qualified Talent
📰 TL;DR - US candidates are getting more expensive and harder to attract while qualified marketers from low-cost living countries are trying desperately to get access to the US market. Companies scaling fast, like Elevar & Lean Labs, are looking for candidates outside the US market with the help of CXL Talent.
💡 Insight - Our friends at CXL Talent source and train marketing talent from lower-cost-of-living areas that are eager to work with brands just like yours! They actually cut your time-to-hire and hiring costs in half.
It’s a win-win-win deal. You’ll make the right hire way faster than through recruitment agencies.
3 - Tapping Into Some McDonald's Ad Brilliance
📰 TL;DR - The iconic brand just unveiled a new commercial that doesn't show either its food or its restaurants for the first time ever. If anything, it focuses on the absence of the product, similar to the iconic "got milk?" campaign. It's received a "brand recognition score" 8% above its category's average and marketing research can't get enough of it.
💡 Insight - So many ads these ads are boring. They talk about the problem and the solution. They dangle a sexy carrot of what your life could be like if you bought the product or service they are selling. But what if your advertising was more clever? What if articulated what you are trying to say without actually saying it?
This ad does a perfect example of that! We implore you to think about what your version of this new McDonald's commercial would be. How can you articulate the absence of your product without even showing what happens when your product is present?
4 - Meta Shuts Down its 'Creator Studio'
📰 TL;DR - Just a week after YouTube announced they are beefing up their analytics for content creators on their platform, Meta announced they are shutting down their 'Creator Studio' page management app (which lets you schedule posts through your Facebook page) to push people over to their newer 'Business Suite platform" which features way more bells & whistles like analytics, messaging, and more.
💡 Insight - It's time for our first-ever community poll :) We feel that very few brands schedule posts directly through Facebook or Tik Tok or YouTube or any social platform, so let's find out:
If you schedule posts for any social platform, do you use?(native = scheduling posts inside Facebook itself or IG or YouTube...) |
5 - The 7 Common Linkedin Profile Mistakes
📰 TL;DR - The last time we featured one of Bruce's tweets it was the most clicked link in our newsletter that day and since he just dropped another super insightful Twitter thread, here we go again! A few of our favorites:
Failing to write an interesting headline - If your headline says "CEO of XYZ" then you are not capitalizing on some of the most valuable real estate on the platform!
Skipping the experience section - Use the experience section to highlight specific projects, skills, responsibilities, and tangible numbers!
Not sharing engaging content - We highlight yesterday how much of a 'moment' LinkedIn is having... Post some good juicy content while the fire is hot.
