š Why Apple Hasnāt Launched A Search Engine
š° TL;DR - Apple seems to be coming for everyone these days! The are set to introduce a VR headset later this year to compete with Oculusā. They have been significantly growing their ad network to compete against Metaās. They dropped tens of millions to sponsor the Super Bowl halftime show to compete with Spotify. And, most obviously, they have been pouring billions into Apple TV+ to compete with Netflix & all the others in the streaming space.
Well, a new report from The Register explains why Apple might not be trying to compete with Googleās search engine dominance. Because Apple reportedly gets a meaningful percentage of all search revenue Google generates through appleās mobile devices in exchange for Google being the default search engine.
š” Insight - We say meaningful because it must be enough not to entice Apple to create its own search engine. If this report is true, it will undoubtedly create immediate anti-trust pressure for both organizations in the EU given everything going on with Google already in thir legal system. We predict a full-scale Apple search engine within 10 years. Get ready!
