  • Text-based video editing to change colors and settings to match descriptions set by the user

💡 Insight - If you’re a designer, you’ve gotta get on this beta because these features look incredible. Adobe products are notorious for challenging use for beginners, so adding AI that will evolve with the product is promising for those of us Canva-converts. Really exciting possibilities here.

🚨 You’ll Need To Disclose #SyntheticContent On TikTok

📰 TL;DR - TikTok has updated its Community Guidelines this week including updates related to U.S. government concerns including synthetic media, hate speech, and election integrity efforts. Most notably, creators will now need to disclose when content is created using AI or other “synthetic media” technologies by adding stickers or captions noting that it’s ‘not real’, ‘altered’, or ‘fake’.

The policy also states that AI depictions of private citizens are not allowed, while those of public figures are allowed so long as they’re not used to endorse products or violate the platform policies.

💡 Insight - Remember the first time you ever saw a deep fake in the wild? Confusing, perplexing, and maybe even a little amazing. But deep fakes have shown us how dangerous technology can be in creating false narratives and how tough it can be to determine what’s real or not. So, while AI-generated content is a massive asset for brands, it makes sense to have some guardrails around it. Don’t be the first brand that gets caught without disclosing this.

💸 Brands Lost $142.8 Billion In Revenue To Fake Traffic in 2022

📰 TL;DR - Yup, read that again. 🥲

According to research from cybersecurity company CHEQ, more than 40% of all traffic online is invalid. For marketers, this means CDP segments and CRMs have been polluted and revenue opportunities are missed. Here’s some other depressing stats from the report:

  • An estimated $35.7 billion of ad spend was wasted on fake traffic

  • 11.3% of all traffic was fake, 5.9% of paid traffic was fake, 5.7% of organic traffic was fake, and 22.1% of direct traffic was fake

  • 1 in 10 visitors was not authentic and 1 in 50 visitors had malicious intent

  • The growth of fake traffic was: +125% click hijacking attacks, 112% malicious bot attacks, 101% web scraper attacks

  • The top three threats of all fake traffic: 20.1% automation tools, 16.6% click hijacking, 13.6% disabled JS
