π How To Crush Pinterest Ads, According To Pinterest
π° TL;DR - We are always skeptical when ad platforms release insights that seemingly say in not so many words "spend more with us and you'll make more" but... Pinterest's new insights seem generally honest and genuine. Their data shows:
Brands that advertise on their platform see a 2X Conversion Rate when their target audience sees ads from two different campaigns, each with a different target objective (out of awareness, consideration, and conversion) and 3X higher when exposed to all 3 target objectives.
π‘ Insight - These numbers sound too good to be true right? Is it that simple? We promise this is not an ad for Pinterest's ad platform (but if you work at Pinterest, please fill out our partnerships form here to discuss that).
Jokes aside, this reminds us of what used to be the best-performing Facebook Ads strategy of all time, which sadly doesn't really work today. We would run ads with the target objective "video views" and then retarget everyone who viewed our videos past 5 seconds with a conversion campaign.
It seems as though Pinterest is saying a similar strategy works well on their platform these days. Maybe worth a shot if your target demo is primarily moms, women, or DIYers.
π Masterclass: How To Get A Super Bowl Ad For $7k
π° TL;DR - A small beer brand named Dogfish head just hacked The Super Bowl. They announced they were able to secure a 30 second commercial in this year's big game for just $7,000. The catch? It will only run in the Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia markets through the local WBOC-TV network.
π‘ Insight - We knew that local stations got to sell a few spots in the super bowl every year but we didn't know it was that cheap???? We all should be reaching out to our local stations to see if they have any extra inventory for the big game around this price point.
π₯ Linkedin Is On Fire, Still
π° TL;DR - Remember when we reported that LinkedIn was seeing "record level engagement" compared to this time last year, due to all of the layoffs? Well, it seems that they just beat their own record again. LinkedIn just reported an 18% increase in total user sessions in Q4 compared to Q3. They are definitely "having a moment" given all the layoffs and show no signs of slowing down.
π‘ Insight - We have heard multiple reports of big-name tech / marketing / startup personal brands on twitter simply repurposing their content and going viral pretty quickly We can't guarantee you will have the same success, but what else do you need to finally bite the bullet and dedicate some time to growing your Linkedin following?
π° Meta Is Buzzfeed's Baby Daddy
π° TL;DR - The Wall St Journal broke a big story late last night that Meta has been paying BuzzFeed millions to create Creator Content for Facebook and Instagram. The WSJ reports:
"As part of a deal reached last year that is valued at close to $10 million, BuzzFeed agreed to help generate creator content for Metaβs platforms and train creators to grow their presence online, the people familiar with the situation said."
π‘ Insight - BuzzFeed helped invent what we know as modern-day social content AND they have had various partnerships with Facebook over the years... so it's only right their most recent partnership would involve training creators to grow their presence online. But why are we calling Meta their Baby Daddy (yes we capitalized that)? Because Buzzfeed has been struggling like crazy with their stock falling about 90% in the last two months. We have to imagine Meta's sweet $10m is helping keep some lights on over there.
We have to tally this on the IG Reels vs. Tik Tok scoreboard as one for Meta/IG!
