🔥 IG’s Founders Are Back With A New App

📰 TL;DR - The founders of Instagram (who sold their app and its 13 employees to Facebook in 2012 for $1b and then left Facebook in 2018) Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger just opened the waitlist for their new social app to the public. It’s called Artifact as an allude to articles, facts, and artificial intelligence. It seems to be super news focused. Early users are describing it as “Tik Tok for text” because you can’t post anything besides text and links but you can swipe through it really easily like Tik Tok.

💡 Insight - Maybe the most interesting part of this is that they currently only have one feed but said will be introducing a separate feed you can swipe over to see the text and news from only the people you follow… We think this could be huge for so many reasons so put your name on the waitlist here and we’ll let you know when you can follow us on the platform 😉 .

🎧️ Tapping Into ASMR Is Generating Huge ROI

📰 TL;DR - ASMR stands for an autonomous sensory meridian response and according to nebraskamed .com, it means "a tingling, static-like, or goosebumps sensation in response to specific triggering audio or visual stimuli" and it's all the rage these days.

Wondering just how big ASMR is? There are countless YouTube videos with millions of views that are simply ASMR sounds and visuals. TikTok videos with #ASMR have garnered more than 557.1b views!

Ok, but how is this relevant to growth marketing?

💡Insight - Hair Salon franchise Sports Clips recently tapped into ASMR to unveil its newly revamped MVP Haircut Experience. “We wanted to go deep into the experience and bring it to life in a 30-second script,” said Sport Clips’ senior director of marketing, Danielle Linden.

Another example of a brand generating huge ROI with ASMR is Australian razor brand Camelie. They have garnered more than 220k Tik Tok followers and tens of millions of views with simple ASMR videos of people using their razor to shave.

We anticipate a huge number of brands tapping into the ASMR trend this year.

📈 Later. com's 5 Instagram Growth Hacks

📰 TL;DR - We trust Later's blog (even though they don't pay us to promote it) because they use data collected from their many users to provide real actionable free insights! Most of the "growth hacks" in the list of 5 are simple and boring but two really stood out to us:

  1. Optimize Keywords for SEO - About 40% of Gen Z prefers Instagram & Tik Tok as their go-to search engines so this is a no brainer growth hack. You should be spending time optimizing your hashtags and captions to make sure your post is optimized to show up for hyper relevant and low volume keywords

  2. Use analytics - This is one of those "growth hacks" that everyone knows to do but rarely does... Calendar block 15 minutes every week to comb through your Instagram Insights inside the app and see if you glean any patterns between your most engaged posts and the time of posting, the hashtags, the topic, or anything!

💬 IG Adds Lead Forms To Business Profiles

📰 TL;DR - Instagram, the heart of culture around the globe, just added the ability for businesses to add a custom lead form to their profile. You can essentially add a big button on your profile, that when a user taps, let's them fill out a lust of questions that you can completely customize, to get in touch with you

💡 Insight - This will be a game changer for any lead gen business, high ticket coach, or influencers. Even e-commerce brands use this as an easier customer support line... Sometimes DMing a brand or figuring out what to write to an influencer can be overwhelming. Our job as marketers is to make it as easy as possible for potential customers to get in touch with us, so every business should be rushing to stand this up ASAP!

🍎 Timeless Marketing Lessons From Steve Jobs

📰 TL;DR - Self-declared "Systems Guy" and viral Twitter guru Matt Gray shared a very well-written list of timeless marketing lessons we can learn from marketing GOAT Steve Jobs. We think the most unique / impactful ones are:

  • Sell Outcomes, Not Features - Matt points out that apple never blatantly positioned the iPod as the best music player, they positioned it as 1,000 songs in your pocket.

  • Locate The Enemy - Throughout the decades, apple has mastered the art of positioning themselves against the PC, starting with their iconic 1984 commercial all the way up to their more recent Mac vs. PC commercials.

  • Convenience Captures The Market - Seamless features inside the iPhone drives massive FOMO like iCloud automatically syncing data inside across devices in real time, airpods seamlessly connected when you open them, apple pay working with a single tap, and many more...
