📰 TL;DR - The WSJ just published an interesting piece about the skillsets it takes to be a successful CMO these days. Historically brands look for CMOs with a strong background in art and creative thinking. According to The WSJ, today it seems brands of all shapes and sizes are trying to find CMOs with a strong performance marketing background than candidates with a strong art and creative thinking background. Specifically, they look for candidates with more math and science skillsets than branding and storytelling.
💡 Insight - You don't have to read this WSJ article to understand there is a major shift in ideal marketing talent skillsets happening across the board. What is interesting in this article though is that some companies are looking for CMOs with as strong of a performance marketing background as a branding and storytelling background. Finding someone like this is certainly a unicorn but it is possible! We say look at the marketing channels your brand will likely acquire most of its customers though, then find a master at scaling those 2 or 3 channels to hire as your CMO.
4 - IG Adds Lead Forms To Business Profiles 💬
📰 TL;DR - Instagram, the heart of culture around the globe, just added the ability for businesses to add a custom lead form to their profile. You can essentially add a big button on your profile, that when a user taps, let's them fill out a lust of questions that you can completely customize, to get in touch with you
💡 Insight - This will be a game changer for any lead gen business, high ticket coach, or influencers. Even e-commerce brands use this as an easier customer support line... Sometimes DMing a brand or figuring out what to write to an influencer can be overwhelming. Our job as marketers is to make it as easy as possible for potential customers to get in touch with us, so every business should be rushing to stand this up ASAP!
