✨ Today’s Insight ✨
📰 TL;DR - It’s important to optimize your content for search and always be iterating. But did you know that it’s possible to over-optimize? Google says yes, in two ways:
Harmful optimization - when you optimize so much that it starts hurting & pushing pages into spam territory
Time-wasting over-optimization - focusing too much on the small details that don’t really make a huge difference
💡 Insight - How can you avoid over-optimizing your content? In a few ways…
Don’t stuff your articles entirely with keywords. While keyword targeting can help, it’s good to include them in relevant places. Keywords aren’t helpful if the sentences they’re in don’t make any sense and pollute the content.
Stop aiming for perfection. Whether you’re using Core Web Vitals or a third-party tool, pay attention to these only to an extent. The effort required to make each change isn’t always proportional to the benefit it provides.
Get comfortable with “good enough” meta descriptions & title tags. It’s tempting to try to write or rewrite every meta description and title tag to reach ultimate optimization. But on the best-ranking pages, little tweaks to small sentences or grammar ultimately won’t make the difference.
