💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Instagram’s Chief Adam Mosseri just dropped all the tips you need to know about why IG is the way it is, what works on the algorithm, and how you can create content that reaches more audiences.
💡 Insight - Do you ever scroll IG and see the second photo in a carousel post pop up first? That might be because you’ve already seen that carousel on your feed, but you didn’t swipe or engage with it. Instagram gives carousel posts a second chance on users’ feeds, which means there are two takeaways here: post more carousel posts to increase the likelihood that you show up on timelines AND make your second image in the carousel something interesting since it might be showcased again.
Posting multiple types of media in a carousel format, in Mosseri’s words, is useful because, "multiple pieces of media are going to mean more interactions with your carousel posts, and more interactions is going to mean more reach on average."
Additionally, Mosseri recommends users add music to photo and carousel posts so they’re eligible to show up in video experiences, like in the Reels tab. Adding popular music can also help posts show up when users are looking through other uses of the sound.
