Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - There are 68.6M Gen Zers in the U.S., making up 20% of the population and 40% of consumers. If you’re not targeting Gen Z because you think they’re “too young,” you’re missing out on a major opportunity.

  • 74% say they spend their spare time online

  • 35% claim they use at least one social media platform “almost constantly”

  • 48% used “Buy Now Pay Later” services like Afterpay or Klarna

  • 64% will pay a premium for their favorite brands

  • 76% said social media enables them to interact with brands

💡 Insight - The How to E-commerce team broke down their top 15 takeaways in this piece, but here are our top 3:

Communicate authentically. Gen Z can be wary of brands and highly values realness. Be transparent and share your brand’s story.

Build, reward, and maintain brand loyalty. If Gen Z likes & trusts your brand, they can be incredibly loyal. Encourage & celebrate their loyalty with rewards programs, targeted discounts, and personalized messaging.

Encourage User-Generated Content (UGC). You should be on social media, but you don’t need to be the only ones making content. Encourage fans to share their own content and embrace sharing it on your own channels. Better yet, ensure your product, packaging, or flow is picture-perfect so users are even more incentivized to share.
