Marketing’s top news, tips, & tools of the day
🚀
Today’s Growth Tip
Memrise’s new GPT-3-trained chatbot can teach users new languages right on their Discord server. It’s an attempt to insert language practice into learners’ daily routines by creating a more natural, real-use context than simply memorizing vocab. Users tell the bot their native language as well as the language they’re trying to learn, and the bot will provide 50 real-world scenarios as a conversation.
Make it yours: AI tools don’t have to be overly complex and boring. If you’ve been wanting to jump on the AI bandwagon, first walk through your customer’s journey using your product. Is there any part of it that could be improved or supplemented by a new tool? And could that tool be implemented with AI capabilities? Worse comes to worse, you’ve just found a hole in your customer journey that needs extra attention – even if AI isn’t the solution.

Talk of the Town
AI hallucinations happen when AI models fabricate information entirely, which can be a huge concern when assessing the safety of AI systems and ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election. As part of the effort, OpenAI has released a dataset of 800k human labels to train the AI model to mitigate logical mistakes.
Takeaway: AI is still young, and it’s good that the powers that be are trying to combat misinformation to strengthen the public trust of the tech. But it’s also a good reminder that everything with AI should still have a human eye double checking the work and be taken with a grain of salt.
According to new usage stats, more than half of the 100k contributed to over 3M posts, averaging 55 posts per account since data collection started on May 1. Obviously, these are still small compared to Twitter and Facebook, but considering it’s still not widely available and only just launched on iOS and Android this past spring… it doesn’t look too bad for the network’s future.
Takeaway: It’s always going to be tough to envision a world where Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram aren’t at the top of the social network hierarchy… but TikTok is still a relatively new addition that totally claimed the public’s attention. So, with such strong early numbers and Jack Dorsey’s backing, Bluesky could have a chance.
