📰 TL;DR - Almost four years ago, TikTok was at the height of popularity, with everyone around the world stuck at home during the pandemic looking for distraction in the newest social network. Recent data has shown app downloads coming to all-time lows while simultaneously, teens are still addicted to using the app daily.
💡 Insight - As Cloudflare’s head of data insight notes in the article, “You’re going to hit a point of saturation. Only so many people are going to end up using it, and there are only so many hours a day they can use it.”
Just because new users are slowing doesn’t mean it’s dying. The hype of every app is going to dwindle at some point, but we’re still seeing record engagement across the platform. That shows that people who love TikTok are going to stick to TikTok.
As far as brand usage of the platform goes, it’s still a super valuable platform with creative ad options and the emergence of TikTok Shop in recent months. TikTok is still cool, but you’ve gotta put the effort in to reap the benefits.
