If it’s banned in the new year, it’s unclear how influencers will adjust and, in turn, what this means for the future of influencer marketing. eMarketer analyzed data to see how influencers are preparing for the ban, which may help your brand evaluate partnerships and how to best spend your budget.

💡 Insight - Here are some of the key takeaways from the study:

  • 84% of influencers are worried about the potential U.S. TikTok ban or sale with 52% being very concerned

  • 16% of influencers derive more than 75% of their income from TikTok, while 33% earn between 25-50%, meaning that influencers have a lot at stake if the app is taken away

  • 67% of influencers have a contingency plan in place in case of a ban, and 64% are engaging more on other platforms

  • If the ban goes through, a wild 40% of influencers chose Facebook as the platform they would pivot to, while 33% would choose Instagram

Overall, brands can still engage in influencer marketing with powerful TikTok personalities. But your best investment may be with influencers who are proactive in contingency planning and focusing on maintaining their presence across other platforms.
