Marketing’s top news, tips, & tools of the day

✈️ Expedia + ChatGPT = A Love Story?

📰 TL;DR - The $14b travel company Expedia is piloting the integration of ChatGPT in its mobile app giving users chat functionality to:

  1. Get personalized travel recommendations

  2. Let travelers save hotels to specific trips from inside the chat window

💡 Insight - We have covered a million uses case of AI in marketing but how cool is this? Using ChatGPT in the product to make personalization more accurate and the overall product experience better.

So many marketers tell us they have been using ChatGPT and other marketing tools to create marketing content, but this news from Expedia begs the question… Where can you use ChatGPT in your product or service?

☠️ Facebook’s AI is seemingly a Canva killer?

📰 TL;DR - Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth recently revealed in an interview that their generative AI ad builder will likely go live this year saying “I expect we’ll start seeing some [generative AI ads] this year. We just create a new team, the generative AI team, a couple of months ago; they are very busy.”

💡 Insight - Facebook has the most ad data in the entire world so we can’t imagine how good their AI model would be at creating winning ads. The ability to tell Facebook’s new AI tool “create a new direct response ad with this picture that would get moms interested in our xyz product” would seemingly replace the need for ad template tools like Canva.

Yes, the hundreds of millions of people that use Canva every day don’t just use it for ads but still… But this will seemingly be THE BEST marketing or advertising AI on earth given the amount of proprietary data its AI can learn from.

🔎 How To Rank Higher On Google*

📰 TL;DR - Most many SEO agencies suck. They charge an arm and leg, don’t get started actually working on your website for weeks, respond to your questions a week later, and don’t actually improve your Google rankings.

💡 Insight - Well we have partnered with the most affordable & effective SEO agency on the planet. They make ranking higher on Google a breeze for just $599/mo. The best part? All Growth Daily subscribers get a 7-day free trial!

🏰 Should you take after Disney & hire a CBO?

📰 TL;DR - The House of Mouse has just announced the promotion of 13-year Disney veteran Asad Ayaz to Chief Brand Officer, their first ever CBO. He currently serves as the President of Walt Disney Studios and prior to that he ran marketing for all Disney movies including Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilms (Star Wars) and so many more…

The announcement says he will continue to serve as President of Walt Disney Studios but now also be responsible for “stewarding and elevating” the Disney brand globally across all of its divisions from theme parks to Disney+ and more.

💡 Insight - As the global economy continues to decline, investment rounds continue to shrink, and privacy issues continue to plague platforms like Facebook & Google, we are going to see a lot more brands hiring Chief Brand Officers. You can no longer just rely on direct response advertising (Facebook ads + great landing pages) to build businesses. Historically global brands like Disney have had the luxury of brand marketing working so well (because they don’t need to track ROI as closely) so the fact they are now making this a priority is a huge signal to marketers around the globe!

I personally am telling all @MarkeitngMax clients they need a “brand-formance” strategy that combines low attribution brand marketing initiatives alongside direct response funnels. It’s something all brands should be considering!
